And the only reason I’m back is to record my last half marathon because this seems to be the place where I track things:)

Between RnR and Diva I’d signed up to do two others – Pittsburgh and an off-road half. Neither of which happened for one reason or another. It’s becoming increasingly difficult to train as my photography biz picks up so I was not trained at all for either and instead of risking injury I forfeited my bib (because neither offers a transfer).

When I signed up for Diva I did so because it was a local road race that a girlfriend of mine was running so I thought it would be fun to train “together” (since she’s not exactly close we trained in parallel and tracked each other over MapMyRun:))

Overall the race was good. My expectations were low because I did not train as much as I had for the others although I did get my long runs up to 11 so. It was quite a hilly course – i think on a flatter course I could have been closer to Richmond time (which makes me hopeful for Richmond in Nov). And since it was the Diva run it was basically a moving sea of pink except for me – I was in white, blue and green.

The race overall was unremarkable. Just a nice pace through the countryside of Loudoun county. My playlist didn’t work thus I was without music so I had to entertain myself other ways. Looking for my friend as we doubled back on one another helped a bunch. The rest was spent counting or writing my next business plan in my head. I was also anticipating seeing the kids and DH at any moment (they ended up showing up at mile 11.5 or so). I will say that the last mile was the longest mile ever (it always is). There was a nice downhill but then you had to go up and roll along for a bit to get to the chute. It felt like it would never freakin end:)

I’d probably do it again if I had a friend to do it with. It’s nice that it was local but getting to and from the start was tricky because there was no parking. You had to shuttle in and out (or walk the mile from the closest neighborhood). Not the end of the world but not awesome either.

Now, after a week and a half off, I have to get my head back in the game and get back to training for Richmond (which starts with a new pair of shoes!)

3/14/2015 Rock and Roll USA (trained to 10ish) – 2:07:26!!
9/26/2015 Diva Half Marathon (trained to 11) – 2:09:47
