I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m likely never going to find a rhythm around here (at least one that stick around all the time…we have our good weeks and bad weeks here).

There are a few tricks I’ve found that help me keep up with things around the house and I notice that when I don’t do them, things to go hell in a hand basket..

1. menu planning – sitting down every weekend and writing down on the calendar and then making my grocery list is sooo much better. I’m not good trying to think something up at 6:30 when Noah’s screaming at me out of hunger.
2. doing everything you need to get done prior to sitting down – anything that needs done needs done before my butt hits the couch. That includes cleaning up dinner, starting diapers etc. Once my butt hits that couch it’s about 10 min before i’m asleep.
3. doing as much as you can the night before…that includes cutting up the fruit for lunches the next day, assembling and packing the diaper bag for daycare and even putting it in the car if I you can get that far. That way the rush in the AM isn’t so hectic.

I’ve also found a new love for my crockpot. Now I know why my mom lived by one when I was a child. Now I just need to find easy, healthy and tasty recipes to try.

Like I said we have good days and bad ones and that the ones that are good are the ones where I’m fully prepared. Now, I just need to get into the habit of doing all of those things regularly.

  1. I know everyone swears by crockpots, so I bought one, but I just can’t get into it. Do you have any good websites with healthy crockpot recipes? If so, please share! So many of them just seem unhealthy or sound unappetizing.

  2. I love the crock pot too! My crock pot is rarely in the cupboard, always either being used, or in the frig with leftovers. I always cook twice what we can eat in a meal so that we have two meals. I know some dislike leftovers, but we love them. I really should be better with the menu planning. I usually think of something when it is 8 or 9 pm, and we are starving. I’m sure it’d be better to plan ahead.
