So we’re already to 15 months! He seems more and more like a little boy every day, it’s disturbing! My baby is disappearing before my eyes:( He’s independent and curious but still likes to check in periodically when he’s playing, just to make sure we’re still there (I secretly love that part, she snuggles in real quick to show that he still needs me).

He follows directions very well and even crawls up the stairs at daycare and gets his shoes for us. He likes to grab them and then sit in your lap to let you put them on. All the while chanting “shooooos…shoooooos” (which sounds like his “joooce” or Juice in Noah speak). He’ll put things away when you ask and hand stuff over when he knows he’s not allowed to have it (the channel changers for example).

We’ve been sick on and off unfortunately and I’m very much looking forward to the end of cold and flu season. I’m tired of this two weeks on/two weeks off game. We’re on antibiotics for something or other at least half the month. Last time it was pneumonia and now we’re fighting an ear infection (number 4 or 5 i think).

He’s has 10 or 12 words (shoes, juice, cheese, papa, daddy, mama, uhoh, ball, bubbles, book, hello/hi, thank you, more/mas) and I swear I heard doggie the other day. Daycare says he also says water and milk in Spanish as well as cracker although I’ve never heard them myself. Oh, and just this morning I heard “poopy”…lovely!

He can tell you where is belly, head, feet and tongue are as well as “shush” you when you’re loud. He signs “more”, “doggie”, and “all done” pretty consistently and I’m working on others (help and hurt).

He’s sleeping from 7ish to 7ish pretty consistently now. Sometimes he’ll pop up around 5am but I usually hand him a small bottle with water in it and he’s back to sleep (this kid drinks a TON!). At his last dr’s appt he was 75/50/50 for height, weight, head circ although i didn’t get the actual numbers since I didn’t go (hubs did and he doesnt remember). I think he’s like 24lbs or so.

I did a quick photoshoot with him the other day to try out a new chair (well, old chair from my great uncle’s farm) and we only lasted a little bit (it was towards nap time) but we got a few nice pics out of it!

Time is flying and I keep thinking back to where we were last year at this time. I wonder if I’ll ever stop doing that.

It’s become a routine…daddy comes home with noah, we all walk out into the backyard and Noah makes a bee line for the garden to pick himself some asparagus…

So, I originally took this vid to show you how obsessed Noah is with the broom. He’ll “sweep” for hours on end it seems. However, the funniest part of this vid is right at the end. He learned a new trick at daycare…

Here’s more of his new trick…

Yup, telling momma to be quite already, we’re in trouble!

…since dh and I met!

I knew from that first date that we were in for a wild ride. By the 5th date I knew I wanted to marry him and two long distance stints, a move to California and 4 years later we said I do. Now, here we are 6 years later with a beautiful family and home and many many adventures under out belt. The best is yet to come I’m sure of it, but looking back the past hasn’t been to shabby. I’ve done things I’d never thought I’d do (live in California, go to Europe, visit Hawaii) but at the same time am exactly where I thought I’d be (a mommy and a wife). Thanks, in large part, to hubs…

I love this man!

Blowing Bubbles!

happy daddy

every time I actually have a spare moment and I’m awake, I’m completely blocked. I can’t think of anything worth while to share with you guys. Work is an adjustment, we survived the days after the half, noah’s growing like a weed etc..nothing new really.

Maybe I’ll be inspired tonight during Idol….

I’m sitting here with ice on both knees feeling like I’m a hundred years old but we did it! We completed our second half marathon today (hubbys and I)! The goal for this one was just to finish. Our training was minimal this time around so just finishing without hurting ourselves was sufficient. Surprisingly, we did better than that and managed to run all but about 5 min of it (I hit a wall around 7 miles and needed a moment to switch muscle groups and walk). Our pace was just a few seconds slower than the one we trained for two years ago and overall we were just about 5 min slower which to me is amazing all considering.

I’d love to have pics to share with you but I wasn’t willing to add anymore weight or distractions so we got the finish line pic taken and we’ll have to buy it later. I do have a pretty metal and two beautiful blisters to show for it though (wanna see the blisters?? haha? now, aren’t you glad I didn’t take pics:) ).

Noah stayed back with gramma and papa and went to church (where I’m told he attached himself to my moms side and would not let her put him down….heavy as he is, you know she was loving it – ha mamma?:) ). Our drive home was another epic drive but pleasant enough.

I’m off to edit some family pics from the weekend if I can keep my eyes open. Hopefully I’ll update later this week with those. I need it to stop raining so that I can take my new awesome antique chair out to a field and take some Noah pics! Maybe this upcoming weekend. Any whoo…

So, I finally have some time to sit down and write up the happenings around here…lots of random so it’s best conveyed in bullet form…

– A long time ago I had this crazy idea that we needed a pergola off our patio out back. I always thought that would come when we redid the patio itself but after seeing how much Noah loves swings, we decided to put one in before the patio (so we can hang a swing from it) and deal with the rest later. So, after weeks of planning and consulting with our landscape architect friend (thanks Nate!) Mark had a plan! It took a bunch of trips to the lumber yard and a few late nights but it’s up!

Now we just need to screw in those top jobbies and find a swing!

– I started my new job on Monday (actually Tuesday, Monday was with my contracting company getting acquainted). That has to be the fastest turn around in history. That’s due in large part to the fact that I was still in touch with people from my last job search just 7 months ago. I’m back in a real office and if you’ve been watching my tweets I’ve been posting my daily outfit!

The project I’m working on is a great fit for my background and I’m really really excited to get rolling with it. Plus, it’s awesome to have in-person co-workers!!

– Mothers day was amazing! We had beautiful weather so the fam went for a quick run down to get breakfast and a nice long walk home, stopping at the playground to let Noah blow off some steam. Then home to let mommy do whatever she wanted!

– I had an awesome photo shoot with a 1 year old cutie from my mommy group. We checked out a local park that I’ve been dying to shoot at. I had a great time and I think they did too!

did you know I have an Fbook page for our photography stuff? Yup, not sure what I’m going to do with it but it’s fun…

– Noah is mimicking more and more and even associates some things correctly. Cheese and Juice are almost always right. He even gets “daddy” right most of the time too. This vid though shows a new one for him:

– I’m woefully unprepared for this 13.1 mile run this weekend. We only ever got up to 7 miles and that was 2 weeks ago. Last week we stuck to 3 and 5 mile runs and nothing so far this week. I’m in real trouble! I guess as long as we finish uninjured I’ll be happy. I’m not above walking parts of it. At least we won’t be pushing a stroller or controlling a dog.

– And to top it all off, I got stuck in an elevator at work today, for 30 min! A brief power outage while the elevator was moving caused the safety system to invoke and lock me in there. They had to have a mechanic come in and reset the system to get me out.

Hopefully I’ll have more time once we get into a routine around here to blog more…

Sorry I’ve been MIA lately. I went from being employed to unemployed back to employed in a matter of a week and a half…and I’m back in a corporate office situation (no more pj’s ro work:(  ).  As such things have been an adjustment and blogging has taken a back seat.

I have lots to tell you all about and maybe I’ll have the energy tonight…we’ll see.  For now I thought I’d share some pics from my phone from our weekend:)

and happy birthday to meeeee…..:) So awesome that I get to celebrate both on one day this year!

Spending my day with my boys enjoying this amazing weather! Will post later:)

For now, enjoy some of my favorite “mom” pictures from Noah’s stash…

May 052011

Noah’s always had a good grasp of cause and effect. He was quick to figure out that pushing buttons on toys made noise, or pushing a lever would drop a ball etc…well, this week he figured something else out….how to drive mommy nutz and make a mess..

He figured out how to get the dogs food open and started scooping…Macie was in heaven!

It’s a long vid because I couldn’t stop laughing at him:)

May 042011

So, we’re slowly starting to figure out Noah’s words. For the most part he says gah goo, gah gee, etc…just babble. But in the last few days I’ve managed to get something legible about of him – Cheese! This is certainly my child:)

He’s also started point and saying “ma”…we were really confused until I saw him start to sign “more” and it clicked…”mas” is more in Spanish. His daycare providers use Spanish quite a bit when caring for him so he just naturally connected it. So now he has more, mas, and the sign for more all connected to the fact that he can point and say/do and we’ll give him more of whatever he’s pointing at. I call hat his first real step in comprehension:)

14 months already! He’s turning into such a big boy, I can’t believe it!!

He’s really starting to develop a personality. He’s hilarious and he knows it:) He gets a real kick out of trying to get us to laugh. It’s such a beautiful sound! We had a few rough nights here and there as his 4 molars made their way thru his gums. They’re still coming but it looks like they’re most of the way broken thru. I’m not sure how much he weighs – probably 23.5lbs or 24lbs. I’ll have to check to see how tall he is next month. Not much else has changed – he’s eating solids all the time. Still gets at least a night time bottle and sometimes just a bottle of water in the AM (he seems to get thirsty around 4:30am…I hand him a bottle and he’s back to sleep right after he finishes it).

Anyways, this is all from memory:) Next month will be more detailed if I remember to do it:)

May 022011

I realize that I’ve completely skipped the monthly updates for Noah. No reason other than life moving on I suppose. His milestones are stretching out some so there’s nothing new to report. Although, it’s fun to share pics so…I’m going ot play catch up and post 13 and 14 today and tomorrow and then try to resume for 15 and so forth…

I don’t have Picky Sticky’s for these months so we’ll just find a few pics from the month and share:)

From a milestone stand point:
– he’s a full time walker – well, runner!
– Solids are no problem although we’re sticking with finger food. We tried once with a spoon but all it resulted in was a very frustrated baby and a mess and a half. Maybe next month.
– He’s 23.5 lbs or so… still 31 inches I think.
– We’re mixing in some 18 month clothes but for the most part he’s still in 12 mo stuff.
– He’s down to two bottles a day – morning and evening and we’re on cows milk full time after finishing up the formula we had left.
– He’s on the toddler schedule at day care! That means he gets regular meals with the kids, circle time, craft time etc..
– He’s still on two naps a day. Generally a 45 min in the AM and then a longer one int he evening.
– He’s not “talking” per say. Just babbling. Lots of gah gah gah go…he’s got “daddy” down but he uses it for everyone:)

I think that’s it for now…as always, i’m sure i’m missing something:)

May 022011

So, one of my girlfriends called Friday afternoon and invited me to a royal wedding watch party that evening. I’m always up for a girls night so I said hells yes! Only one problem…they were going all out, hats included, and I have no hat:( Enter a quick trip to el Targé and Michaels to find some supplies….

A headband, few feathers, some wooden flowers, felt and lots of hot glue, what I produced:

Excuse the cheese and the terrible pic, this was after I got home, taken by the hubs and me with quite a bit of champagne on board…

The party was a blast! The gal that threw the party went all out. She had a real wedding cake, wedding favors, and food to feed 100 (there were about 40 gals in attendance). There was toad in the hole, scones, tea sandwiches, salmon rolls, and lots of cheese, crackers, and biscuits. Oh, and lots of champagne! Her husband even put together a Kate and Wills wedding slide show for our enjoyment to watch as we were getting assembled to watch the main event. In the end a great time was had by all!

In my champagne induced silliness I decided to let the dog try on my headband (lots of cheese was involved in placating her long enough to get the shot)

I think she may actually wear it better than I did. Now I just have to figure out what to do with the headband, it’s too much fun to throw out but really, when would I wear something like that again??!
