I decided to try out my new Christmas present and take some pics of Noah tonight and get is 10 month session in. The lights are great and so powerful I only needed one! Woohoo!

I had to have DH on hand to wrangle the little guy because he was ALL OVER!

I do have a Christmas wrap up post for you all but I haven’t had time to finish it. Maybe during our low key New Years I’ll manage to get it done:) I didn’t get as many pictures as I’d hoped unfortunately.

It feels like I just wrote this for 9 months (well, I did I guess because i was running late then too…ha). Anywho…2 more months and I’ll have a 1 year old! I need to get DH working on the sun room so we have somewhere to put the people for his birthday party!

We were away for his “birth anniversary” so I’ll have to take his pics this week sometime (and try out my new studio lights!). For now, here’s where we are milestone wise!

– Sleep is all over the place these days. Sickness, new teeth (i think), and just general alertness is contributing to my tired state and his cranky days. It comes and goes. We’ll sleep good for a few days and then have a string of ups and downs. I really just wish he’d pick one or the other – my body would appreciate it.
– He’s standing for the most part on his own. He’ll go for 20 – 30 seconds and then realize what he’s doing and plop down (or throw himself into my arms). Daycare swears he’s stepped out a few times. I’ve not seen it myself…he’s definitely crushing things though (and so proud of himself).
– I think we’re probably just a few weeks from walking. He’ll walk while holding on to one of our fingers and he’s pretty good at it – scary!
– He’s in 12 – 18 month clothes and I think it’s almost time to open up the last set of snaps on his diaper (these are supposed to last till he’s a toddler?)
– He’s probably 22-23 lbs and 30-31 inches, my little boy is getting sooooo big!:(
– Not a ton of movement in the talking front. Still babbles mamama, dadada, gahaha, etc… nothing is deliberate. He gets alot of spanish at daycare so I’m wondering if that’s slowing things down a bit. I’ve been talking to him in full sentences, describing things as we do them and stuff so hopefully soon he’ll pick up on it. I know he understands us because he reacts differently based on what we say. He knows “no” now and “bottle”. He’ll turn when you say his name and clap when you ask him to.
– He’s a bottomless pit when it comes to eating but not baby food – our food! This kid is a mooch!

This first birthday is fast approaching – I can’t believe it! I still look at him and marvel that he’s mine. I still expect someone to come and take him back. I love him so much!

It’s no secret that I’ve been trying to lose weight (and was making headway until a few weeks ago – we’re plateaued out right now..). But one thing I noticed, and everyone said this would happen, is that even though I’m getting back to my goal weight, my clothes just don’t fit the way they used to. I understand the hips/butt/belly thing…that took the brunt of the impact during pregnancy. However, what I don’t understand is that I seem to have become longer in the waist. All my sweaters from just prior to my pregnancy are all like crop tops now! I’m trying to pass it off as a cruel joke where someone went and washed them all so they shrunk but seriously….they’re all too short! Bums me out because I had a bunch that I really loved:( Oh well…off to wrap presents and figure it all out later.

And here’s a picture of Noey for good measure…he was watching daddy change the light outside the door.

I don’t have any pics from today because the recipient of this super secret present reads the blog:) I’ll have to share after Christmas but suffice it to say, we loved the idea so much, we did it for ourselves too!!! hehe…now don’t you just hafta know??!

The rest of today has been only moderately interesting. Today is a Steeler Sunday and we actually get it on our TV down here (normally it’s Redskins or Ravens) so most of the day has been an effort to get all the running around done before the game. Unfortunately I have a TON of work and a really important demo tomorrow so I’ll be working thru the evening to get things ready. Crossing my fingers da Stillers make it a quick and painless game and just put the Jets away fast.

Noah’s definitely got something going on these days. Either teeth or a growth spurt but he’s just not his normal self. He’s sleeping horribly and just screaming at things, getting frustrated really quickly. An increase in chewing on things leads me to believe there are more teeth on their way but who knows. I hate that it hurts him so much and really hate having to dose him up with Tylenol or Ibuprofen so often to handle the pain. I’m considering trying a Baltic amber necklace or anklet. I’ve heard great things about amber and the natural analgesic properties it holds. I guess I’ll let you guys know if it works:)

Holiday card are done, just need to put them in the mail now and I’ve left all my wrapping to tomorrow night. DH is ripping up the ceiling on the porch to put in a new light (which he decided was a great project to start at 5:00 with only minimal light available)

Anywho, that was a way random post but I thought I’d check in. Countdown to the holidays…t-minus 3 days (until our festivities start)

Well at least for Noah it was! A string of sleepless nights has him a bit delirious I think because he was happy and hilarious today. Perhaps he was just that way anyways. Regardless, he was on a roll today just gabbing away, cruising the furniture and crawling from room to room. He emptied my tupperware drawer with glee and then proceeded to toss everything around the kitchen. That’s only after he used me as a human jungle gym and attacked the camera. Case in point:

About 1/3 of the time when you tell him to smile and point a camera at him you’ll get some sort of toothy open mouthed smile like you see above. The piggy snort happens only if you’re really lucky! He thinks it’s hilarious and dissolves into laughing fits along with DH and I.

Here you find him babbling and not listening to me:)

Then he tried climbing into or over the toy basket. Perhaps it was a bit cruel to just stand there and watch him struggle but I promise it wasn’t for long and he laughed at me when I went to help him. Nothing gets in this little guys way anymore. He climbed Mount DH this morning (DH was laying on the floor in the nursery and Noah climbed clear over him to get to his toy.

And last but not least, he’s back to his favorite gesture – no! All while trying to climb over the basket again.

Right in the middle of all that fun was a quick shopping trip to get some last min things. It’s a hair raising experience shopping in those last few shopping days before Christmas. The highlight of the trip (aside from getting home in one piece) was a very sweet little boy who was completely smitten with Noah and who told me about wanting a Pot Belly’s for Christmas and how it all had to do with food (I didn’t quite follow the entire story line:)). His dad, bluetooth ear bud in place, told me that his vocabulary is just exploding right now and that he has no idea where these stories come from. I got a kick out of both of them. They were having lunch at the cafe in el Target…

Anywho…thought I’d fill you guys in and share some cute videos:)

that blogging slows down during the holidays. Really! I read an article on it. Anyways, blogging has slowed down here because well, life has picked up and is moving at a wildfire pace. Perhaps an update would be quicker in bullet form:

– In a testament to her obsession with tennis balls, our Vizsla Macie tried to climb a tree to retrieve a ball that had gotten stuck. I really didn’t think she could do it but after about 20 min of circling, jumping, biting and false starts she literally jumped up on to the lower branches of the tree (about 3 feet off the ground) and channeled her inner cat as she tried to walk out to grab the ball. She was interrupted by DH and ended up hopping down before she got out to it (the branch would have never held her).

Look VERY closely…you’ll see her in the tree:

– Christmas card photo shoot number two was successful! I ordered our prints and they should be here any day now. I can’t wait to share!

Here’s an outtake to share…we call it “Jazz hands”

– 1 year, 1 month and a few days later our kitchen reno is done (save for a few outlet covers that need replaced). Now, on to the next project – the sun room! I’ll get a pic of the kitchen one of these days and I hope the color conveys.

– Aside from spending a few hours at the mall killing time with Noah while DH painted, I’ve managed to do ALL my Christmas shopping online thru ebates! I’m waiting for my refunds to all hit but I’m up to $30 so far!

– I’m really looking forward to Christmas and seeing all of our families! My SIL, BIL and Nephews should be in their new house by then and I’m super excited to see it! Last time I saw it it was all studs and no stairs.

– Work is picking up – end of the year sales push means lots of demos and prospective customers to woo…thankfully they’re some pretty awesome prospective customers with really compelling stories to craft a demo around. (My main job is to listen to the prospect, figure out their pain points, and craft a demo to who how our product can solve those problems…pretty awesome stuff!)

– In Noah news he’s doing great. 4 teeth that he’s been putting to work lately on just about everything (including my chin when he was particularly frustrated and I was in the way). He’s showing more preference for foods he can feed himself and our food than his purees. Meaning I have a closet full of purees that we’re going thru much more slowly now. He’ll eat purees if he’s really really hungry. Otherwise he’s mooching off our plates.

I think that’s it for now. I have a few projects that I’ll blog about if I remember to take pics:) I finished a crocheted scarf for myself as a test and have a brimmed hat for Noah about 3/4 of the way done. I have plenty more yarn, just need to find the time. Time….ah yes, need more of that somehow…:)

or be deterred….our first try at a Christmas card shot failed miserably. They just didn’t turn out how I wanted them to. Part of the problem is that I tried to do it myself. I’m firmly convinced now that any shoot with Noah now needs to involve both hubs and I. One to actually snap the pic and the other to catch, chase, pose, and act silly so Noah will smile. So, tonight I’m going to try again! I’m going to get the mantel area all beautified and maybe even get some lights on the tree so we can try that too.

I’m determined to get a good shot partly because I’m just that stubborn and partly because I want a great Christmas card to send to our family and friends of Noah’s first Christmas. I was on Shutterfly’s site and they have so many awesome designs to pick from (and the prices are just right too!). Not wanting to reveal too much I’ll show you three that I like that may or may not end up being our final design (if I get that dang picture…these may be New Years cards instead!).

And those are just from the first 5 pages of designs, there are so many more!

Once we actually get the picture (and oh yea…we will get the picture!) and the cards have been mailed I’ll share the final result here:) There’s still time (not a ton but some) to do this yourself! And if you go to Shutterfly, you can get 50 free holiday cards for doing exactly what I’m doing now – blogging! Go to: http://bit.ly/sfly2010 to sign up!

I had all these great ideas for Christmas card pics (which if I don’t get crackin, may be New Years cards!) that just didn’t work out . A mouthy mobile 9 month old strikes again. Imagine my sadness when only the top two here were anything to speak of (and they’re not even that great).

It was fun practice none the less and we’ll have to try again this week or upcoming weekend to get something suitable for a Christmas card. Hopefully the wind dies down and we can try a family pic outside. Either that or I need to finish decorating my house and we can use the tree or something as a backdrop.

Dec 072010

So this weekend we established a new family tradition in our house – cutting our own Christmas tree! Yes, Noah’s too young to even notice but it’s the thought that counts right??:) I’d had every intention of taking the big camera out into the field with us an setting up a bunch of great family shots but that was all thwarted by the rush of icy air that greeted us as we opened the car door. Seems I neglected to realize how much of a temperature difference there was between our home and the farm we drove to just an hour away. Matters were not helped by the wind that was whipping over the field. So, needless to day, we were trying our best just to get out, find a tree, cut it down and get back to our warm car as quickly as possible.

Noah was a real trooper. We had him bundled but I know he had to be cold too. Here’s a video from our adventure.

Dec 062010

So I swore I’d get to these before he turned 10 months and this weekend we finally got a chance. It was sooo cold this weekend that Noah and I spent most of the weekend indoors. I shrink wrapped the windows in his room and my office to hopefully stop some of the draft that is par for the course with almost 30 year old windows.

So, without further adieu…

Dec 032010

We’ve been taking pics of Noah off and on the last few weeks but I’ve not had the time to sit down and edit them. I finally found some time tonight and thought I’d share.

I’m hoping to get more pics this weekend as we search for our Christmas tree and start decorating the house for Christmas!

Dec 022010

This past weekend was a blur of activity and family. Too much eating, lots of Noey snuggling, and family time made for a perfect extended weekend. We’ll try to forget the car ride home which was 2 hours longer than it needed to be because of traffic.

Funny enough we were so busy entertaining and enjoying that I didn’t get a ton of pics during dinner. Noah did have some turkey, mashed taters, and sweet potatoes (but then again, he’s had all of that before).

Here are some of the pics I did manage to take:

This past year has been a year full of blessings! Starting with Noah’s birth, then my third nephews birth and continuing this week with great test results for my dad. I can’t even start to articulate how thankful I am! Suffice it to say nothing matters without a happy and healthy family.

In a previous post I revealed that I’ve become one of those people that really dislikes the holiday traffic. Navigating jammed parking lots, standing in hour long check out lines, contending with inconsiderate people who can’t look up from their phones long enough to realize they’re about to walk right into you.

So, this year I think I’ll do all my shopping on line. I’ve done a bunch of it in the past and just love how quick and easy it is. Shopping at home in my PJ’s, sleeping baby and nice glass of wine…that’s my kind of shopping! (Don’t get me wrong – i love me a good trip to the mall but just not during the mad holiday rush). What makes this even better is that my girlfriend Brooke turned me on to ebates.com. Did you know that you can get cash back for shopping at some of your favorite online stores? And it’s not just no-name-why-the-heck-would-I-shop-there stores, they have stores like Gap, Banana Republic, The Body Shop etc…. Simply start shopping at their site (or thru their browser tool bar) and start getting 5-25% cash back on your purchases!

How can this work you ask? Well, the stores pay fees to ebates to direct traffic to them. It’s a win win. We make out with the cash back while buying things we’d normally buy and the store reaps the increased web traffic from all of us incentivized customers! I’ve already purchased a few things thru them and can see my cashback tally growing!

If you’re going to shop online, this is very little extra effort to earn some cash back! Try it for yourself
