And the march of time continues! Today my little man turns 9 months old – 3/4’s of a year old! It seems that every day he’s doing something new and his abilities are just exploding!

We had our 9 month dr’s appt this past Friday and she confirmed that he is a string bean of a baby – tall and skinny! He’s 21.1 lbs (70ish %) and 29 inches tall (90%). I guess it’s good we switched to the big boy car seat this past month – its limit was 30inches!

Here are some other things going on with Noah:
– He’s a crawling machine now. Nothing gets in his way.
– He can go from crawling to sitting and back with no problem. He even gets to his knees from sitting – safe to say there’s never a dull moment in this house.
– He has two fully emerged teeth and two more coming in that I expect will be here before Turkey day (you can actually see them pushing on his gums)
– He can now pull up on EVERYTHING! I need to invest in a baby football helmet for his poor little noggin that bounces off of everything.
– And seemingly overnight he went from crawling and pulling up to cruising. He’ll cruise his toys and sometimes the couch. If you grab his little hands he’ll walk with you. He’s definitely got a brave streak in him because he’ll let go of the activity table and try to walk over to me (and usually just ends up falling over and crawling into my lap).
– Because of all this new found upright mobility we had to drop the crib to its lowest setting – I found him standing and bouncing up and down one morning!
– He’s always been a talker but now we hear distinct mamamama, dadada, and gah gah sounds in there! I’m reinforcing as best I can the mama part:)
– One day out of the blue he crawled across the room, plopped to a sitting position and started clapping. He was so proud of himself!
– He also does a kissy fish face and smacks his lips alot. It’s hilarious!
– He’s eating more and more solids and is slowly pulling back on the formula. I fed him some clementines this morning and he LOVED them!

I just can’t get over how amazing he is!

I’ll have to get his monthly shots this weekend since we’re up and out of the house just after the sun rises and not back until the sun is down (darn you winter).

Deviating a bit from “Noah” news to post something that came to mind this AM. It’s funny how smells can instantly transport you back to a place and time (music is great for that too).

This morning I was making myself some tea in hopes of driving this cold out of my head and one whiff of English Breakfast and I was back on a cold morning in the bothy hut in the Scottish Highlands. There tea was the answer for everything. Hung over? Tea. Cold? Tea. Burn your hand on the hob? Tea. It was the cure all and social point of my days at St. Andrews. Even though that was years ago, I still go back when I have my cup of tea.

There are other scents too – odd ones like witch hazel that remind me of those first days in the hospital with Noah or my pine cone Yankee candle which puts me back to the first days in our new house. Then there are natural ones like bay leaves that take me back to our mountain biking days in Northern California – I can still feel the heavy wet chill as we zoom up and down the hills (well, zoom down – uphill was almost always a long slow slog). Or coffee which reminds me of waking up Saturday mornings growing up. Saturdays were for running around – swimming lessons, piano lessons, picking up the church flowers. Then back home to clean and do chores.

No matter what you’re doing at the time, a scent has the power to instantly transport you back into a moment – I love it!

What scents get your memories flowing?

This is going to be a drive by update since DH is sitting here waiting for me to pay attention to the movie:) Weigh in this AM was better but I’m still hovering above 130 still…I really need to get my butt out for walks with the pup while the weather is still nice:

Next, Stats by the month:
Week 1 – 142lbs (7 weeks postpartum)
Week 4 – 140lbs – ouch…no excuses, I have a new workout regime and a new resolve for eating healthy…we should start seeing that number drop.
Week 8 – 135 – Hallelujah! Real progress now! I don’t expect it will continue at this rate but we’ll see.
Week 12 – 133 – time to get back to counting calories:)
Week 16 – 136.5 – taken on Monday. NOTE: this is on a new scale which disagrees with my old scale so we’re kind of resetting a bit.
Week 20 – 134.5
Week 24 – 133.6
Week 28 – 130.1
Week 32 – 133.4
Week 33 – 131.4 – time to change it up, hovering just above 130 is frustrating

Okay, I promise more fun stuff tomorrow! I have some great videos of Noey standing and starting to cruise. We have two more teeth on their way as well!

I’ve seen a number of other blogging momma with these beautiful necklaces on and upon further searching I found out where they were from. Lisa Leonard Designs makes these adorable yet so beautiful necklaces.

If anyone is looking for a Christmas idea for me…hint…hint….my three favorites are below (yes, i know that was shameless…)

Okay, just a bunch of random for you today….

– Dh is finally painting the kitchen and trying to con me in to helping. Someone has to watch the kid right??:)

– We’re both relishing the last weekend we have uncommitted for a while – Hello Holidays!

– Speaking of holidays – really? Thanksgiving is next week?

– An also speaking of holidays – how bad is it that I’m going to do all my shopping online this year? I’ve become the person that hates to deal with holiday traffic and would rather shop in the comfort of her own home. That said, maybe one trip is in order to get a pic of Noah with Santa – you have to have at least one of those right?

– I’m trying to keep up with blogging but feel that my content is lacking. I promise I have other interesting posts started – just not finished! Many are project related and since I’m still working thru them, it’s taking a while!

– Noah’s on the road to lots of bumps and bruises! He’s figured out how to get to his knees and sometimes to his feet. Unfortunately he’s not very graceful and when he falls, it’s usually into a toy or the side of the crib. I’m trying to keep him from sharp edges but I think it’s about time to invest in a football helmet with a full face mask.

– Speaking of Noey man, he’s finally babbling mamamammamama….I LOVE IT! Makes my heart melt every time.

– My next trip away isn’t for a few months and I’m already trying to figure out how I can convince DH to fly cross country with an almost 1 year old and play nanny for the week. I hate being away from them!

– I’ve crocheted two hats so far and have a third started <-- yay me, so proud! - I'm converting Noah's velcro diapers to snaps - one long process at a time. I got one done last night during the football game that the Steelers forgot to show up for...ugh... - I have way too many crafty projects in my head - need to stop reading these fab craft blogs before my sunroom is overrun with more projects! Then again, I can probably save myself a TON of $$ if I make everyone's gifts this year...hmm..... Okay, enough random. I need to get back to work!

I plopped him in his crib this AM while I was putting way his clothes (and trying to find something for him to wear today) and I turned around to find this:

And because I got such a kick out of it, here’s another:

ETA: Yes, we’re lowering the crib:) We lowered it two weeks ago when he figured out the pulling to his knees. I need to get in there and do it again now (i should have just gone the whole way down the first time!). Although, I’m afraid the next level is not going to be low enough – tough having tall child!

It’s been a long week away from home and I’m super glad to be back with my boyz! DH and Noah survived the week without me here but DH is definitely very tired (and has caught the cold that Noah had before I left). The ironic part is that Noah was an angel. He was the easy one! It was the dog that kept him up (if it’s not one thing it’s the other right??!) She decided that while mommy was away, she’d ingest something to make her sick and with her sensitive digestive system the only way to right it was with meds. So, off to the vet DH tromped yesterday to get her stuff to stop the vomiting and other fun bodily functions. She’s on the mend and DH got to sleep i today which made him happy. I’m happy to be back with my Noey (who greeted me at 5am by standing in his crib yelling mamammamamama and grinning ear to ear – I love it!)

I did weigh in this AM and as expected it was not pretty. Being on travel makes it really hard to eat right. Just about anything you get from a restaurant is loaded with calories. I tried to choose the lowest calorie intake on the menu but even that was 7 or 800 calories for a meal. Argh…oh well, back on track!

This week – 133.4lbs (up 3 from last week).

Week 32 – 133.4 Long week of traveling and eating like crap has struck! Time to get back on the wagon!

Since I haven’t had time to take many pics of our little man, I’ll share some video. The first one is a shot of him crawling! He went from army crawl/lunge to full on hand and knees crawling in just a few days. Now he’s unstoppable!

This second one was a few weeks ago. We got a bunch of apples from an orchard and they were so cute and little. Perfect for his hands. Since his teeth were just starting to break thru at the time he really couldn’t do anything but gum and play with it.

Anyways, we have a pretty tame weekend ahead of us thankfully. Hopefully we’ll get out and enjoy the beautiful fall weather while we can!

I get asked a lot about the numbers on Noah’s belly in each of the month pictures. I hate to reveal all my secrets but I guess for you guys I can tell you this one:)

….they’re stickers!

I saw them during my TheBump.com and TheNest.com days and just had to have a set! There are lots of companies now that sell them (just look at Etsy.com) but ours came from Pickysticky.com.

So, at last count I know 20 women that are pregnant at this very moment and these make perfect gifts:)

I’m not connected to PickySticky nor was I promoted to post this on their behalf. I just love the product and thought I’d share the love:)

Or when you’re super busy….:) Such is the case in our house! This week was a bit crazy and as such I missed my Friday Shape Up post. Well, not much to report there so I guess that’s okay. We’re status quo…no change…neither good nor bad considering all the halloween candy in the house (which is now gone because I’ve eaten it all!). The biggest excitement this week was our refi.

We finally got the approval, all the conditions cleared, and the closer scheduled. However, at the nth hour I found a problem in our HUD-1 (actually a few problems – most of which were corrected pretty easily, some where not and lead to some scrambling in the end). To top it off, I was running around on Friday trying to wire the funds, correct/amend the wire due to a mistake by BoF’s website and make sure everything happened that day because my LO said that they had to be in by Friday at 3pm only to come and find that Monday at 3pm would have been sufficient! Argh…anyways, it’s over! The money is there, it should fund Monday afternoon and our refund should be here a week or so after that. Phew… Anyways, why this long drawn out explanation? Anyone that is choosing to refi make sure you’re comfortable with your LO – a low rate is wonderful (and easy to come by these days) but if you have no one guiding you thru the process it can be a nightmare. Fortunately I had some exposure when I worked at Chase during the last mortgage boom but still it was stressful.

On the Noah front, we’re fighting a cold or something. I can’t decide if it’s teething, a cold, or both. Poor guy has a cough, is all snuffly and just cries like he’s in pain. He’s usually fine if we’re holding him and will sometimes play on his own. But as soon as he starts to get tired things go downhill fast. I’ve been wearing him around today and that seems to help but I can’t do that this coming week when I’m in Cali. We’ve been alternating Tylenol and Ibuprofen and you start to see him get upset as it’s nearing the next dose so I’m leaning more towards teething but who knows.

On other fronts he’s a crawling machine! I’m trying to get some video up for you guys – maybe later today when he naps again! For now, I need to jet – he’s awake and screaming!:)

I’ve been reading Lindsey’s blog over at The Pleated Poppy for awhile now. Every Wed she does a ‘what I wore’ post that catalogs what she wore that previous week. The point of the exercise was to get her to put more of an effort into her appearance (being a stay at home/work at home momma and all). Seeing that I’m right there with her on the work at home bit I thought I’d participate this week. I can’t gurantee I’ll do this every week – it’s a PIA to take the pics. My only full length mirror is in the closet on the back of the door and the lighting is awful in there so…excuse the quality of the pics!

Wednesday

Shirt/Belt – Kohl’s
Jeggings – AE (LOVE)
Shoes – Target (I think)

It was a full weekend in the Kloep house! Since it was the first one where we were actually home for the entire thing we filled it with house chores and errands. Mommy did lots of shopping (groceries and trying to return some of the clothes that I bought thinking I’d have an office job) and daddy did yard work (including cutting down a tree!). Even with all that fun house stuff, we did manage to sneak in a few Halloween related activities including costumes, pumpkin carving, and hanging out with the neighborhood kids.

I returned from the store to find all the neighbor kids outside and begging to play with Noah so I grabbed his costume and the camera and figured we’d make the best of the afternoon light. Then we all carved the pumpkin and waited for trick or treat’rs (of which we had like 6 all night – now I have way too much candy). Finally, after Noey went to bed, mommy, daddy and their friend watched the Steelers!

Okay, enough talking, on to pics!!!:)

He loves the puffy belly

The monkey crawls

Our monkey with his pumpkin under a tree

Mmmm...pumpkin guts! He LOVED them!

Daddy gave him a banana

Mmmm...banana

My monkey with his pun key (monkey pumpkin)
